This is a lovely part of the Dart with steep wooded banks that narrow the river. The view is southwards toward Dartmouth with the old thatched cottage at Greenway Quay on the left and the jetty to Dittisham village on the right. I chose to paint the sky with a steep diagonal movement to lift the viewer’s eye and stress the vast openness of the scene.
