This was painted from the cliffs in front of the YHA on a breezy day, with enough of a sea to bring out the surfers. I enjoyed painting the wet sand; I am often asked how I make it look so wet and the answer is ‘by looking hard and painting what I see’. The small figures in the foreground busy in the quiet pool act as a foil for all the action going on in the sea.
