When I painted this, the sea was absolutely flat calm and inshore, where the water was shallow, its colour was an intense almost tropical turquoise and the dark seaweed had a purple hue. I’ve detailed a few of the benches on the cliffs, where many people come from their busy lives just to sit and take in some of the peace offered freely by the ocean.
