For those of you who don’t know, ‘pure’ watercolours are painted without the use of any white pigment. The ‘whites’ in the painting are made from the white of the paper alone. This means you have to leave the white shapes and carefully paint the rest of the painting round them. The wake behind the boat, the water pouring off the rocks, the distant waves. Yes, I know it’s crazy, but I love the challenge.
