Here the acres of wet sand catch and reflect the light from the sky and Pentire to form an almost formal abstract ‘colour field’. This abstraction is brought back to reality by the three figures and their reflections which I have carefully placed to anchor the picture, the whole composition hinging round the brilliant white boogie board and its reflection.
