Now and again, if you get lucky a drawing adds up to more than the sum of its parts. This is quite a rapid sketch, a loose wash nudged into shape with some carefully judged lines, the stool she sits on indicated by just one of its legs and yet the total impression is one of great wistfulness. It was drawn many years ago and the two things together have given rise to the unusual title.
