I love clouds and think they are a real gift to watercolourists and they will often define the mood of a painting, as they have, in this case. The light is breaking through the clouds and making the rooves of Padstow ‘sparkle’ and the grasses on Brea Hill ‘shimmy’ in the breeze. The girl and her dog act as a visual anchor and a counterbalance to the strong upward thrust of the high ‘anvil’ cloud.
