Large Oak Platter -Ref 7

This bowl was turned 'green', that is from a tree that had only recently been felled. The walls have been made uniformly thin and this has allowed  the wood to dry without splitting; the stressed taken up by the piece moving and changing shape . The result is a lovely organic asymetrical form with the platter almost egg shaped when looked at from above . In profile it looks a little like a boat with a definite bow and stern . The piece is designed to be used, it is strong and light and the inside has been finished with a food safe finishing oil
