Many years ago I was canoeing on the River Dart down near Dittisham when I came across this amazing piece of root sticking out of the mud .After a great deal of struggling and much muddying I managed to get it home where it lived next to my woodburner looking --well like an interesting piece of wood! I was fascinated by what the grain might look like inside and when I started turning I set myself the technical challange of mounting it up on the lathe and spinning it at 500rpm and the result is an absolutely unique 'bowl'. To my great delight I discovered that the interior grain looks exactly like the eddies on the River Dart!!
